We’re pleased to share the publication of Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in Cyprus, a new book by Kriton Dionysiou. It’s the first textbook in Cyprus to cover this area at this scale, offering practical insight into how foreign judgments are recognised and enforced across various legal fields—civil and commercial matters, family law, bankruptcy, and arbitration. The study covers judgments from EU Member States, third countries, and foreign arbitral awards, highlighting both the legal framework and the practical application of these rules in different contexts.
Drawing from a wide range of case law, the book brings together decisions from the courts of Cyprus and leading common law jurisdictions such as England, Canada, and Australia. It takes a close look at the challenges courts and practitioners have faced, and how case law has responded to them—sometimes with clear solutions, sometimes with evolving approaches. The result is a resource that offers both a local and comparative perspective, aimed at legal professionals, academics, and students
