Our firm recently represented the claimant in European Payment Order proceedings before the District Court of Nicosia, arising from a cross-border commercial debt.
Following the issuance of the European Payment Order, we were instructed to take decisive enforcement steps against the debtor. Given the structure of the debtor’s affairs, this required the filing of multiple garnishee proceedings against third parties believed to be indebted to the debtor, with the aim of locating attachable assets and securing recovery.
After several hearings and sustained procedural engagement, we successfully recovered a substantial portion of the outstanding debt. In addition, we secured appropriate collateral from the debtor in respect of the remaining balance, providing our client with further protection and certainty.
This outcome reflects the importance of persistence, procedural precision, and strategic use of enforcement mechanisms—particularly in cross-border matters where debt recovery often demands more than a single step.
