Dr. Kriton Dionysiou is a practicing advocate in Cyprus, with a proven track record in civil and commercial litigation, with deep expertise in disputes arising from commercial agreements and civil offences. He is regularly entrusted with handling cross-border disputes, interim orders, and arbitration proceedings. With a practice deeply rooted in courtroom advocacy, he has successfully represented clients before public authorities, first-instance courts, and the Court of Appeal. He has also acted as an investigator for statutory bodies in Cyprus and served as an arbitrator in an international commercial dispute. He is regularly instructed by the Attorney General of the Republic to appear before the Courts on his behalf. His experience extends to advising corporate clients on regulatory compliance across Cypriot and EU law, as well as negotiating, drafting, and revising commercial agreements.

Beyond his legal practice, he is a dedicated academic and legal scholar. He is currently a lecturer in civil and commercial law at the University of Limassol and has previously held teaching and research positions at the University of Nicosia, the University of Cyprus, and the University of Manchester. He completed his legal studies at Nottingham Law School in the United Kingdom and obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in European Law from Leiden University in the Netherlands. He later completed the Legal Practice Course and obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from the University of Law in the United Kingdom. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Manchester, where he also lectured, and his doctoral dissertation CETA’s Investment Chapter – A Rule of Law Perspective has been published by Springer. A second book written by him is also published in Greek with the title Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in Cyprus. Furthermore, he is one of the authors of Cypriot Civil Procedure, a comprehensive reference work—written in Greek—on the procedural rules governing civil litigation in Cyprus.

In addition, he holds the AML (Anti-Money Laundering) Certificate and the Advanced Certificate from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. He has received specialized training in arbitration from the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague and is a certified human rights trainer by the Council of Europe.

Within the legal community, he currently serves as Vice President of the International and European Law Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association. He is also a member of the Judicial Committee of the Cyprus Handball Association and has previously served on the board of the Cypriot Branch of the International Law Association.
