Successful Construction Arbitration Outcome

We are pleased to share a notable outcome for our firm in a construction arbitration before the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber. Our team acted for an employer facing a series of claims by a civil engineer. The matter proceeded through a full hearing with several witnesses under examination and cross-examination. The Tribunal’s award dismissed the majority of the claims, and the claimant was directed to cover the legal costs of the proceedings. We are grateful for the trust shown by our client and for the dedication of our team throughout the process.

Successful Settlement of a Construction Dispute

We are pleased to report that our firm has successfully represented a construction company in resolving a dispute arising from the refusal to issue a final architect’s certificate at the close of a construction project in Nicosia. The matter involved three parties – our client (the contractor), the project’s architect, and the employer – and raised legal questions concerning both the lapse of the liability period following completion and the treatment of the snagging list. These issues are frequently encountered in construction projects, as they bear directly on the timing of rights, obligations, and final settlement between the parties once…

Guiding a Key Construction Project in Limassol

We are pleased to share that our firm has advised a leading construction company on a construction project in Limassol. Our team drafted all necessary supplementary agreements and provided expert guidance on the regulatory framework, ensuring a clear commercial understanding between the parties while safeguarding our client’s rights. Key elements of our work included selecting the most appropriate contract type—Fixed Price or Bill of Quantities (BOQ)— clarifying the subcontractor’s scope of work, advising on the arbitration clause, and navigating contractual and regulatory requirements. By addressing these challenges, we helped formalize the commercial understanding on paper and secure our client’s position.…

His chapters address the service of documents and the challenge of court jurisdiction—two fundamental aspects of the reformed procedural system. The publication comes at a pivotal time, following the introduction of the new Civil Procedure Rules, which represent a fundamental shift in the way civil justice is administered in Cyprus. We are glad to have been able to contribute to a resource intended to support the legal profession as…

Claiming Foreign Debt in Cyprus

In today’s world, cross-border transactions are the norm rather than the exception. But when debts remain unpaid across jurisdictions, the question arises: Can foreign debt be claimed and enforced in Cyprus? The answer is yes—Cyprus law provides several avenues for doing so, but the correct approach depends greatly on the origin of the debt. The first essential step is to identify the state from which the foreign judgment or debt obligation originates. This determines the legal framework available for pursuing enforcement in Cyprus. For example, if the debt arises from an EU Member State, there are well-established mechanisms in place.…
